Here's how I worked around it: Â For me it was caused because I had to compile 1.7.5 not from GitHub for compatibility reasons (don't ask!). This meant that the version info was not available in the expected GitHub location - hence the file not found error. To workaround it, I commented the 3 lines in command1.py (around 1362-3 for me) that parse+return the version info, and hardcoded my known version#; so that call returned the literal string "1-7-5". Sean Olig 0 Posted December 23, 2016 Share Posted December 23, 2016 I'm not sure if we ran into the same error, but I needed to install git to compile.  I was using Mint 18 so I was able to use: sudo apt-get install git-all  Hopefully that helps you out. Link to post Share on other sites
