New user: Clipboard issues

(BTW: typing this in for the 2nd time ... this forum just lost the text from my post when I minimized it to recreate a clipboard issue!!!) Just downloaded/installed yesterday. If I highlight text and CTRL-C ... I can paste it on the other PC ... however: 1) if I select a file on one PC and CTRL-C ... when I get to the other PC the context menu (from desktop) for Paste is disabled. 2) if I try to right-click a file and drag it to the other PC the cursor stops at the window's border. 3) if I try to left-click a file and drag it to the other PC the cursor moves to the other PC ... but loses the file it was carrying.

I have a related problem... if there is anything in the clipboard from the client, when I move the mouse from the client to the server, synergyc crashes. This is the case with 1.7.x or greater (incl beta). The debug output on the crash is the following /build/synergy/src/synergy-1.7.6-stable/src/lib/server/Server.cpp,815 synergys: /build/synergy/src/synergy-1.7.6-stable/src/lib/synergy/Clipboard.cpp:72: virtual bool Clipboard::open(IClipboard::Time) const: Assertion `!m_open' failed.
