Lose control of Windows server when locked

My work Windows 7 machine which I use as a Synergy server automatically locks after a certain amount of time. I find that when this happens I lose control of the server, ie, mouse/keyboard work on clients but the server won't regain control and so I can't unlock the machine. The only solution I have found is to disconnect all clients. Is there a better solution to this (apart from disabling auto-locking, which is not an option).
