Using Synergy and Xming windows simultaneously

1 post in this topic

I have a windows 7 machine as my server.

Ubuntu 14.04 client.

Synergy is running and working fine. (Pro Encryption version = 1.8.5)

I would like to use Synergy to share the mouse and keyboard, but also be able to open additional windows on my server machine using Xming.

I get this error when attempting to open an app on the server machine in a putty window (app = terminator)

PuTTY X11 proxy: unable to connect to forwarded X server: Network error: Connection refused

/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/gtk-2.0/gtk/ GtkWarning: could not open display

warnings.warn(str(e), _gtk.Warning)

You need to run terminator in an X environment. Make sure $DISPLAY is properly set

In Addition:

If I change DISPLAY to 0.0, it opens on the client monitor. If I change it to localhost:0.0, same error.
