Edbjj 0
Hi, Does the client and server need to reside on the same network? In otherwords is it going through your server or just connecting based on ip addresses? My Server (PC) is on a lan and my client (MBP) is wireless. They both start fine, but they can't see each other. Thanks
Paul Suarez 107
Hi @Edbjj. As long as they are on the same subnet, it should work. You can test it by pinging the other device using command prompt. If it gets a reply, that means it can communicate with the other machine. Example: Client is 192.168.1.100 and server is 192.168.1.101. This setup should work. Client is 192.168.1.100 and server is 192.168.2.100. This setup usually doesn't work since they are on a different subnet. However, the network administrator can make changes on the router/gateway to allow communication for different subnets within its network.
