Synergy fails to connect on windows 10 after configuring server

Hello, I just purchased synergy and have gone through the download and installation process. every time I try to connect from the client the software fails to connect. I have configured my server and manually entered my IP address but the software still will not connect. if you could provide me with some assistance in this matter it would be greatly appreciated.
