Tim Higham 0
This was a bug in the previous version as well. Tried terminating the process forcibly, but only restart seems to work. I find it very surprising that there is not at least some terminal commands to force it to restart and show the window. Restarting the whole OS is very disruptive.
Lypian 1
How would I go about removing this version? It auto starts on boot and even if I stop it in activity monitor it just restart. So I can't delete it.

Any suggestions? Can you please elaborate on the "stopped working?" Is it no longer opening the GUI, is it not letting you log into the software? Is it no longer connecting, and if the latter case, is it showing gray or green screens on devices in use? Don't forget to please follow this posting for the Beta 4 https://symless.com/forums/topic/3948-read-first-troubleshooting-beta4/#comment-16293 Quote Thanks for trying Synergy 2 beta! Please read the beta4 troubleshooting guide before posting. You may need to restart the background services a few times to get it to work. If you're still having problems, please either post your logs in a new thread or email us ([email protected]).

Ditta 0
This is the first time I have used Synergy. I can confirm that I have the same issue om macbook. The Windows laptop is showing as green.
Lypian 1
It wasn't showing up in login items. That being said I ended up creating a second Admin account logging and removing the app. Very odd. I guess I'll have to wait for the next Beta.

krbuck 1
Having the same problem. Not sure how to get back to a clean install...
Lypian 1
Just create a second Administrator account. Login as that user. This stops the Application from starting. Important to note your MAC has two Applications folders one under /Users/ the other on the root of the HD. Then delete the App form the applications folder at the root of the hard drive (/Applications this is at the root of the HD).  Edited September 25, 2017 by Lypian

It did open when I fist installed it synergy 2. Sorry I have no logs as I am unable to access the program. When Synergy 2 is closed, it seems as though it cannot be re-accessed as the tray icon has been removed. I have requested the tray icon to come back and the thread is actually going fairly well. That thread is located here if you would like to contribute to it in any way. However, from what I've seen with the beta (and it is a beta, so results are bound to be inconsistent), if you open it like a regular app, most times, it will reopen. If it doesn't, go to Spotlight and search for "Activity Monitor". From there, go and find the synergy services and quit them. If you don't know how to do this, you probably shouldn't be using the beta, as it is very inconsistent at this time and not for the faint of heart in terms of technical knowhow. Instead, if you have no idea what I just said with the termination of synergy services, just wait it out until the final release comes out, where all of these bugs, glitches, and shortcomings are hopefully addressed by the Symless team. The only time the Synergy application opened for me was when I first installed it. As per my posts above I forcefully shut down the processes, rebooted my system, and nothing would happen. YES I KNOW WHAT THE ACTIVITY MONITOR IS WHY DON'T YOU READ THE COMMENTS NEXT TIME. I was also unable to remove the application due to the fact that the process would simply auto restart every time I forcefully shut them down. Also the applications didn't show up within startup items and yet it was not only starting during the logon but it was also restarting itself every time I shut it down in the "ACTIVITY MONITOR".  I understand this is a beta and unfortunately its completely useless for me at this stage. I will note that there are some key features that work in 2.0 that don't work in 1.8 however seeing as i use this system for work I can't switch at this point. I'm sure the Symless Dev team will be able to sort this out. Edited September 26, 2017 by Lypian

Brsrkr 0
I don't mean to hijack the post, but I have problem with the same version on my MacBook Pro 2012. Running OSX 10.11.6. Synergy is running (in activity monitor) but I don't get any GUI. Tried restarting. Tried force restart like in the beta4 troubleshooting guide. The GUI was showing right after I installed it. If not, you may need to simply restart the computer overall, as is not uncommon with this Beta 4 release.
lgv212 0
I'm also not getting the GUI. Macbook Pro 2016. Only showed the GUI the first run. I've force-closed the application, and tried a few things. I even ran the debug and tests found in the app package through the terminal. Nothing. running ./synergy2 found in Contents/MacOS, it opened a GUI showing how to allow accessibility permissions, but nothing else.
Kelvin Tran 142
Lypian, This is not a direct one-to-one conversation. Almost nothing I said was directed solely to you. You're not the only one experiencing this issue. I suggested opening the Activity Monitor and quit services. I had said that anyone who doesn't know what Activity Monitor is probably doesn't need to be using a beta program with this amount of technical knowhow requirement. I did not attack you personally. Again, almost nowhere in that post I made did I ever make a comment against you. I had simply asserted that there is a level of technical knowledge necessary to use Synergy 2, not that you lack it. I did not see the comment where you had said you used Activity Monitor, I had missed it then. Sorry. Now, back to your current post concerning your findings. If you want the service to terminate and not restart, restarting your Mac into Safe Mode will do it, but I assume you know how to do that (since you're using this beta) and want a better solution. Restarting the service is what Symless thinks those who want to terminate the service want to do. Synergy 2 is supposed to be as "seamless" as possible, and in that process and especially in beta software like this, you do compromise on a lot, to some, unnecessarily. We'll just have to wait for this to be ironed out. If you want a refund, please contact [email protected] and they'll be happy to help you. They're good folk over there. I'm sorry if I've offended you, I did not intend it.
