Runtime Error when booting synergy

I recently bought and installed synergy on two of my computers. On my laptop it suddenly crashed when pairing the two, and everytime I boot or reinstall Synergy I get this error: "This applivation has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information". This is from version 1.8.8.
