Mac and windows working, debian not connecting

Recommended Posts

I have mac (mini running high sierra, logs here: https://synergy-logs.symless.com/2017-10-09/4538-2017-10-09T14-00-32.log )acting as server, works well between that and

windows 10 laptop logs here: https://synergy-logs.symless.com/2017-10-09/4538-2017-10-09T14-00-32.log again working fine.

Here on the other side I have a debian 9 machine running 64 bit beta4 . If I run synergyd in a terminal it sees the names of the mac and windows machines, but never controls them. Nor does the linux machine's name show up on the mac or windows Synergy ui ever. Here are the linux logs: https://synergy-logs.symless.com/2017-10-09/4538-2017-10-09T13-59-19.log

The mac mini is set as the server (hit F12 a few times to make sure and the keyboard connected to that machine is controlling both mac and windows) but linux machine never connects. I did have to add the jessie backports debian repo to get libssl1.0.0. so synergy would install.

thanks for Synergy btw, it's awesome, I love it.

Looking at the output of sudo systemctl status synergy.service the service is not running after boot up. Looking at journalctl --boot shows it is throwing an exception because HOME is not set:

terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::runtime_error'

what(): HOME environment variable not set

Maybe that helps? I'm on a fairly recent install of debian 9.

After the fix of the linux service restarting on all three machines then also restarting on mac so it could act as the server now everything is working/connected as expected.
