Popular Post Mike Schenck 5
I took advantage of what I thought was a good deal buying Synergy 2 for $19 saving me $30 on the full license price. But now you've sent me an email asking me to buy it for only $5. I can't help but feel a bit insulted. I love version 1 of this software and I was happy to support version 2. I stopped using the beta because it was totally non-functional for me. I get it, it's beta, so I didn't ask for a refund. But now there's a much better deal that is basically being waved in my face. I understand you guys may have looked at the numbers and decided to change your mind about pricing, but have a little common sense and don't send the offer to someone who has already paid nearly 4 times as much for the exact same product.
Popular Post Scott Resnik 2
Same here. I paid 10 bucks for version 2 early access, then see this as well. I get that I may not always get the best price because there are price changes, but do I need to be spammed about it?
Brielle 1
*sighs* I normally just go with the flow on stuff like this, but yeah, I feel kinda insulted too after paying $20, and previously paying for v1.
SKY 2
yeah, I just brought it for $5 because I saw it was $15 before and it's cheaper now. Still, it's not working at all, two computer can find each other but not doing anything, this is not some small bug I can live with, so I can understand you because I'm about to delete it, if I see it cheaper than $5 after two weeks I will very disappoint too. Also, I kind of surprise, even it's beta and there are only two engineers, I think it's only reasonable if paid user can submit support tickets (I literally paid for nothing and there are no way I can contact them). Nowadays there are lots of small group devs which only have 1~3 people, usually they'll accept email support and happy to help.
OtwayInfotech 0
I'll join the chorus - paid US$19, now I'm being emailed to buy for US$5... for a beta product that should really be alpha (starts and silently closes on Ubuntu, starts & sits unresponsive on Windows 10). Not great marketing for early adopters willing to help..............
Snorcrow 0
Yeah perhaps it's a little contentious emailing users that have already paid, however also consider perhaps they would like to buy more licenses, $5 is a great opportunity to do so. Maybe that's where they're coming from? Or maybe they just don't care. Idk. Personally I also try to look at a purchase like that as initially supporting the development of the product, and yeah a lot of people have grievances about it being a beta instead of alpha, but in my scenario, V2 is working way more smoothly than my V1 did. Perhaps now that it's built a "working" foundation, they are aiming to pull in more beta users, for more usage data/testing, and what better way to do so through a $5 price tag. Popular Post Mike Schenck 5
I think in addition to this being a software development cycle, this is also a learning experience for the company. I'm sure it wasn't their intention to upset their customers, but none the less it has happened and I'm using the venue provided to me (in return for my $19 I might add) to let them know. I want to reiterate, I've been using Synergy for years and years. It's a great product and I'm very much looking forward to Version 2. I know there will be issues with the Beta given its very nature. My gripes have been about the other stuff. There was no easy way to find the troubleshooting guide when I was first asked to buy into the beta program. They fixed that. But it feels like they were just plain being careless when they emailed me with the $5 offer. I don't think it would have been an undue difficulty to cross reference the email list with those who had already paid four times that amount. Still I'm not asking for a refund, because I know that when the software is ready it will be well worth my $19. I just in the meanwhile they put some more thought into the marketing.
GranPaSmurf 108
Hang in there beta testers. You've got the right viewpoint. Beta 5 should drop soon and it gets to be fun again.

Seb 0
I feel your pain guys... same here: paid 15$, don't use it because it is not working at all with my setup, and I get this email about 5$ price...
Zeus 1
Same here.. Paid $15 and now it $5 and it doesnt even work with my simple setup.
jtls 0
Another $15 buyer; I sighed/ignored the later e-mail about buying access for $5.. especially after not even being able to get it to work between macOS and Ubuntu. I also paid for v1, and that worked very well. I'm sure they'll get it together eventually
akhs 0
I paid $15. I thought it was worth at least $15. It took me a few restarts on two macs to get it working, but all seems well now. Not surprising considering it's a beta. I've been using Synergy 1 for a number of years, and it was rock solid. So if that's any indication, Nick and team will get things up to snuff in short order. Happy to support a small company charging a reasonable amount of money for a super useful piece of software. At least, that's why I'm not fussed about the extra $10!
DereckR 2
So where did you guys get the email it was $5.... I just bought it for $19 and I already owned V1.
