Excessive Memory Usage

4 posts in this topic

I have a Win 7 and a Win 10 system that after a few days will both have the Synergy process using around 3GB of Ram.  It just seems to grow as time goes on.  Has anyone else seen this?

Sounds nasty,
You might want to create a memory dump file, so they have some geek stuff to look at :)

I did end up reaching out to support and they had me do a complete uninstall of the software along with manual file removals and deletions of registry keys on both systems and a clean reinstall.  This does seem to have solved the memory issue.  In case anyone else runs into it, here are the directions that were provided that resolved the issue.

Looks like we'll need to reinstall. Would you mind doing that for me?

First, uninstall Synergy using Add or remove programs (or Apps & features).

Next, run regedit and delete these registry keys:

Now, delete these directories (if they exist):

C:\ProgramData\Synergy v2

Finally, reboot Windows to ensure that the hook DLL is completely unloaded.

First, open the Terminal app and run this command:

launchctl unload /Library/LaunchAgents/com.symless.synergy.synergy-service.plist

Next, delete the Synergy app from the Applications directory.

Now, run these commands to remove the settings.

rm -rf ~/Library/Preferences/Symless
rm -rf ~/Library/Synergy
rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.https-symless-com.Synergy.plist

Then, run this command to unload the preferences:

killall -u $USER cfprefsd

Finally, reboot your Mac which will remove the helper tool.

First, Remove the Synergy package using your package manager.

Finally, run these commands to remove your settings:

rm -rf ~/.config/Synergy/
rm -rf ~/.synergy/

Once you've done that, you can reinstall Synergy 2. Let me know if that helps!
