Problems disconnecting from service

I have a setup in which during the day I utilize Synergy Pro on my PC and macbook pro. However, I have a 10 year old daughter who uses the PC after I'm done working and I find that I cannot effectively quit the service or disconnect one machine from the server. It just restarts when I quit, running in the background. You can imagine how insanely frustrating it is to compete for the mouse every few seconds.
