I have been using an earlier version 1.6.2 which works fine. Today I downloaded 1.7.4.I seem to have it installed except it will not connect to server. Log reads: [2015-09-06T17:39:30] NOTE: connecting to '192.168.0.109': 192.168.0.109:24800 [2015-09-06T17:39:30] ERROR: ssl error occurred (generic failure) [2015-09-06T17:39:30] ERROR: error:140770FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:unknown protocol [2015-09-06T17:39:30] ERROR: failed to connect secure socket [2015-09-06T17:39:31] NOTE: disconnected from server [2015-09-06T17:39:31] NOTE: stopped client [2015-09-06T17:39:31] INFO: process exited normally [2015-09-06T17:39:31] INFO: detected process not running, auto restarting [2015-09-06T17:39:32] INFO: starting client [2015-09-06T17:39:32] INFO: config file: /tmp/qt_temp.G12361 [2015-09-06T17:39:32] INFO: log level: INFO [2015-09-06T17:39:32] NOTE: started client [2015-09-06T17:39:32] NOTE: connecting to '192.168.0.109': 192.168.0.109:24800 [2015-09-06T17:39:32] ERROR: ssl error occurred (generic failure) [2015-09-06T17:39:32] ERROR: error:140770FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:unknown protocol [2015-09-06T17:39:32] ERROR: failed to connect secure socket [2015-09-06T17:39:32] INFO: stopping synergy desktop p Should I uninstall earlier versions?

Please disregard. I got it to work, I think by un-ticking the SSL encryption that evidently is default. Maybe it should be an option, not default. I'm guessing MOST users are like me, on a home network and don't really want the encrypted connection.

Glad you got it to work. You are right about the home network usage, if you can trust every computer on your LAN then there's nothing to worry about. The errors you posted suggest some sort of incompatibility between your server and client? I'd be interested to know more about the computers you are connecting, because error may not be related to Synergy. If you can, fill me in on some details of your Server and Client. - Which OS? - Wifi or wired connection? - And verify that you upgraded both machines to 1.7.4 and then ran the Registration Wizard. This step is actually very important. I suspect this is another case of old files in your home directory from 1.6.2.
