Not keeping screen awake - OS X 10.8-11 client, Win81 server

Title says it all really. I'm not having any luck at all keeping my OS X client's screen awake, which as I understood it, Synergy is meant to inhibit screensavers, screen sleep, and system sleep. Am I doing something wrong, or is this just not a supported feature anymore?
