Keyboard and Mouse not working properly on client

I have 2 mac minis that I'm running synergy on with with OSX 10.10. The problem is that on the one configured as a client the keyboard and mouse don't work properly. The mouse tracks and scrolls way to fast, and my sideways scroll and 3rd button on the scroll wheel don't work. With the keyboard I can't use the media buttons at the top or the expose keys either. I switched to synergy after getting frustrated with the free version of Teleport (delay between switch was annoying) but now I'm losing functionality that I had with a free piece of software? What's the deal Synergy? Does anyone know how to enable my devices to work as normal?
